“I’m Christina McNeilis, and I oversee Corporate Sustainability initiatives for a major health care system in New York. My work focuses on improving our environmental stewardship through reducing waste and energy while working with our supply chain to purchase safer and more sustainable products. My work is meaningful because every day, I know I’m making a measurable difference to improve the health of our planet and the people who interact with our health system. I’m able to connect with passionate frontline employees in our Green Team and also work with my peers across the country in health care sustainability to strive toward our common goal to lessen health care’s footprint on the environment. I love being able to innovate and bring people together to discuss these important issues and solutions. Though working in the field of sustainability or environmentalism can sometimes feel demoralizing due to the damage that has been done, I find that I mostly feel energized seeing how much progress we are making together.”
