Stories matter.

We find ourselves not by being
the most seen, but the most seeing.

Human Side of Work is a project dedicated to capturing the faces, stories, and day-to-day lives of a diverse workforce. Told primarily through photos and captions, our aim is to establish an ongoing collection of relatable and heartfelt stories and images of generations, documenting natural work environments, and providing a glimpse into the human side of work.

As a global pandemic has shrunk our social and physical environments, there is a need to establish, re-establish, and strengthen connections with perspectives and experiences foreign to our own. Storytelling provides a path to understanding, empathy, and appreciation. The aim of this project is to take people down this path, to modernize the way we visualize workers, to take interest in the stories of the real people behind the work that runs the nation, and to document the realities of worker health and safety.
